KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 6): The US$250 million (RM1 billion) superyacht Equanimity, said to be owned by alleged 1MBD scandal mastermind Low Taek Jho, who is better known as Jho Low, is expected to arrive in Port Klang tomorrow (Tuesday, Aug 7) afternoon.

Quoting an unnamed source, The Star Online said the vessel received its port clearance from the Batam Marine Department at 2.30pm today, indicating that its next port of call is Port Klang.

"The ship would be leaving Batam this evening after it had been handed over to senior Malaysian marine police officers who were already in Batam to receive the vessel," the source said.

When asked for confirmation on this, the Prime Minister's Office said "the handing over process between the [two] authorities was in Batam".

On the vessel's expected arrival to Malaysia, it said, "[The] safest we can say is within 48 hours."

The superyacht, allegedly acquired using 1MBD funds, was first seized by Indonesian authorities in February off the coast of Bali. The seizure was later declared null based on technical grounds.

Indonesian police seized the boat again in July following a formal request for legal assistance from the United States. Indonesian police previously said they would hand the yacht over to Malaysia but did not specify when.

Malaysian authorities are still seeking to arrest Jho Low, who was recently last seen leaving Macau. His Malaysian passport has been revoked and an arrest warrant has been issued for him.
