KUALA LUMPUR (May 28): Sunway Property Bhd's serviced suites project in Ipoh, Sunway Onsen Suites, has recorded a 60% take-up rate for its first tower comprising 252 units, during an exclusive sales preview held on May 20.

The RM400 million development comprises three tower blocks in total, with the first block estimated for completion at the end of three years after the launch, Sunway Property said in a statement.

Conceptualised as the first serviced suites in Asia that integrates natural hot springs within the development, the project's serviced suites come in studio, two-bedroom and three-bedroom variations, ranging from 592 sq ft to 1,184 sq ft. The units are priced from RM392,600. There are also six luxurious Onsen Villas that start at 2,712 sq ft.

"The highlight of the development is a magnificent courtyard within its podium level surrounded by a full suite of facilities including a natural hot springs pool or 'onsen', infinity swimming pool, multipurpose hall, gymnasium, sauna rooms and podium garden. The development has a dedicated entrance for residents and a grand lobby with green natural streetscape," Sunway Property said.

The development is located within a RM2 billion integrated development spanning 31 acres, which will include the proposed Lost World Mall, medical centre, assisted living with hot springs facilities and additional education components.

Levels seven to 15 of the development will be managed by Sunway Lost World Hotel, based on Sunway's Build-Own-Operate business model, to cater to investors who prefer a hassle-free investment.

"Sunway Onsen Suites offers the best of urban conveniences which are all found in the integrated Sunway City Ipoh township, as well as the best of nature. For investors who want to capture the opportunities from Ipoh's transformation into a world-class tourism hotspot, Sunway Onsen Suites is an ideal investment," said Sunway City Ipoh executive director Wong Wan Wooi.

Wong said the group will continue to expand its tourism offerings in Perak this year, including building a luxurious Sky Bar in a cave at the Lost World of Tambun, which is slated to be completed in September.

"We will continue to support the State's tourism ambitions in the coming years through the development of tourism products and through active partnership with the State's tourism promotion authorities," said Wong.

He added that Sunway Property will invest another RM4 billion in Sunway City Ipoh in the next 15-20 years, including the Sunway Onsen Suites. Conceived in 1995, Sunway City Ipoh is now a world class township with two resorts, namely the Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat and The Lost World of Tambun.
