(Aug 6): Government agencies should stop the "war" among themselves, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang said today, following raids and arrests of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officials over alleged leaks of official information involving 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

"We should not carry out activities as if suspecting each other as traitors. MACC should be allowed to carry out its anti-corruption duties.

"This situation of police harassing MACC must stop," Lim said after a visit to the anti-graft agency in Putrajaya this morning in a show of support to the agency.

Seven MACC officials have been picked up for questioning since the weekend as part of the police's probe into leaked official information on 1MDB.

Police began probing into the leak after The Wall Street Journal last month reported that it had obtained information from Malaysian investigators, which showed that US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) had gone to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's personal bank accounts.

Lim said despite some disagreements with MACC previously, the new round of attacks on the commission only served to undermine its performance and professionalism.

Other opposition lawmakers who also turned up at the MACC today were opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, Kuala Krai MP Dr Hatta Ramli, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, and former minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) chairman Mohamad Sabu, who was also present, said what happened in the past few days only strengthened claims that MACC is powerless.

"We want to give support to MACC so that it can be a credible body especially in investigating people in high positions in Malaysia,"

Meanwhile, Rafizi urged Malaysians to lodge reports with MACC against the RM2.6 billion donation received by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"The people have to give a clear message to Najib.

"Now PM has claimed it is from a donor. MACC is empowered by the act as donations are considered as gratification.

"When a public official receives a gratification, he must explain and prove that he is not corrupt," Rafizi said, adding that reports lodged would allow MACC to begin investigation.

MACC is currently investigating a former 1MDB subsidiary, SRC International Sdn Bhd, over a RM4 billion loan it took from Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP).
