Peterlabs Holdings Bhd (-ve)

PETERLABS (fundamental: 1.7/3; valuation: 1.8/3) saw brisk trading for its shares after releasing earnings results for 4Q2014 on 27 February. Since then, its share price surged 7 sen or 41% to an all-time high at 24 sen. Net profit jumped 50.4% to RM3.0 million on the back of 9.2% revenue growth to RM54.9 million. 

The ACE market-listed company is principally involved in trading and distribution of animal health and nutrition products. Moving forward, Peterlabs plans to broaden its product offering and expand its export market in view of competition in the local market.

The stock trades at a trailing P/E of 13.3 times and 1.23 times book value. Dividend totaled 0.5 sen in 2014, giving a yield of 2.1%. 

By comparison, peer SCC Holdings (fundamental: 1.95/3; valuation: 2.4/3) earns higher margins and pays better dividends – 10 sen in 2014, translating into a yield of 6.5%.
