UMS Holdings Bhd (-ve)

UMS Holdings (Fundamental: 1.65/3, Valuation: 3/3) was picked by our momentum algorithm for the first time yesterday on heavy volume. The thinly traded stock jumped as much as 6.2% before closing 3.7% higher at RM2.83.

Last Friday, the company released its 4QFYSept2015 results. Sales dropped 5.8% y-y to RM18.7 million, due to a general slowdown in the construction and agriculture industries. Meanwhile, net profit surged 49.9% to RM3.6 million, boosted by RM9.7 million gain on sale of property and RM4.1 million revaluation surplus of investment properties.

UMS Holdings distributes mechanical power transmission, material handling systems and industrial spare parts. The products are used in various industries such as palm oil, sugar, quarry, cement and rubber. For FY2015, Singapore constituted about 9% of its sales with the remaining from domestic market.

The company has net cash of RM35.4 million or 30.8% its market capitalization.

The stock trades at a trailing P/E of 6.9 times and 25% discount to book value.
