Priceworth International Bhd (-ve)

SHARES in Priceworth International Bhd (fundamental: 0.55/3; valuation: 0.9/3), which triggered our momentum algorithm yesterday for the first time, fell two sen or 15.4% to settle at 11 sen.

At the closing bell, some 19.83 million shares were traded, compared with the 2.7 million average shares seen in the last 200 days.

On Wednesday, Priceworth said it is acquiring Rumpun Capaian Sdn Bhd for RM260 million, to be funded via a proposed private placement and special issue.

Rumpun Capaian owns 99.99% of Anika Desiran Sdn Bhd, which was awarded a 100-year concession in 1997 to carry out harvesting, forest management and rehabilitation, and industrial tree planting within a forest reserve area in Trus Madi, Sabah.

The stock currently trades at a trailing 12-month price-earnings ratio of 56.89 times and at 0.24 times its book value. Year to date, the counter has fallen 31.25%.
