Paos Holdings Bhd (-ve)

SHARES in Paos Holdings Bhd (fundamental: 2.35/3, valuation: 2/3) climbed 2.5 sen or 2.78% to close at 92.5 sen yesterday, after 2.1 million shares were exchanged, a significant jump from its 200-day average volume of 2,279 shares.

Paos is involved in the contract manufacturing of bar soap and trading of specialty fats produce from palm oil. The group is also the owner of The 5 Elements Hotel in Jalan Sultan, Kuala Lumpur.

For its financial year ended May 31, 2016 (FY16), Paos recorded a 97.6% jump in net profit to RM3.46 million, due to currency exchange gains and a difference in contracted soap chip prices and new fuel oil sales.

Revenue for FY16 was 29.3% higher at RM74.1 million, thanks to higher sales volumes during the period as well as the new trading sales of fuel oil.

At the current share price, Paos is trading at 1.1 times its book value.
