Merge Energy Bhd (-ve)
TRADING of shares in Merge Energy Bhd (fundamental: 0.95/3, valuation: 0.9/3), which was slapped by Bursa Malaysia with an unusual market activity (UMA) query on its share price surge yesterday, triggered our momentum algorithm for the seventh time this year.

The builder saw its share price spike as much as nine sen or 16.7% to 63 sen in the morning session, before settling at 62 sen at the end of the day, bringing its market capitalisation to RM41.54 million.

A total of 7.78 million shares were crossed yesterday, sharply higher compared with the counter’s 200-day average trading volume of 128,120 shares.

Merge Energy responded to the UMA query saying that its major shareholder and certain directors had been approached by a few parties who expressed interest in acquiring a stake in the company. It added that these parties also expressed interest in exploring certain business opportunities with the company, although discussions were preliminary with no agreements or conclusions made thus far.
