DRB-Hicom Bhd (+ve)

TRADING of shares in DRB-Hicom Bhd (fundamental: 0.4/3, valuation: 1.2/3) triggered our momentum algorithm yesterday for the second time this year. The counter closed up one sen or 0.44% at RM2.29, after 13.35 million shares were done, higher than its 200-day average trading volume of 2.96 million shares. The group is principally engaged in the automotive, services and property sectors.

DRB-Hicom’s Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd’s June market share hit 18.1% — its highest since July 2015 — as it still recorded sales growth even as the total industry volume shrank an estimated 30.8% to 42,090 units in that month. This pushed its year-to-date market share to 14.7%, which the company said was a “big improvement” from 10.8% in 2018. This comes after the company recorded its second-highest sales figure this year of 7,615 units in June, after selling 10,611 units in May.
