TRADING of shares in Ancom Bhd (fundamental: 0.35/3, valuation: 1.1/3) triggered our momentum algorithm for the second time since Jan 7 this year. Ancom shares closed 2.19% or 1.5 sen higher at 70 sen, after 2.64 million shares were done, almost 12 times the counter’s 200-day average trading volume of 221,368 shares.

The group, which produces and distributes industrial chemical products, posted a 30.56% year-on-year (y-o-y) decline in net profit for its second quarter ended Nov 30, 2019 to RM1.25 million from RM1.8 million, as revenue fell 27.02% to RM398.07 million from RM545.48 million.

The lower top- and bottom-line earnings were on account of lower revenue generated from its operations, as well as its effective tax rate being higher during the quarter.

For the cumulative six months ended Nov 30, 2019, net profit slumped 78% y-o-y to RM1.94 million from RM8.82 million, while revenue retreated 25.23% to RM802.34 million from RM1.07 billion.
