The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) deputy minister Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad, who was guest of honour, said the government and private sector have a collective responsibility in helping Malaysians, especially young citizens and first-time homebuyers, to own a house.
“The time has passed for us to highlight all the reasons why young Malaysian couldn’t afford a home. We are all by now very familiar with the problems of low income, high prices and difficulties in securing end-financing.
"It is now the time for the market to offer innovative solutions to address this issue and the government is ready to work with private sector to find these solutions. Malaysia can be the first to develop an out of the box way to address the problem of affordability which is in fact a global problem," he said.
