KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 30): Information and communications technology (ICT) distributor ECS ICT Bhd has appointed its executive director and deputy CEO Soong Jan Hsung, 51, as its new CEO.

Concurrently, its managing director and co-founder Foo Sen Chin, 66, has been redesignated as executive chairman of the company.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, ECS ICT said Soong, who has more than 20 years of experience in the ICT distribution market, began his career as a sales executive with ECS Pericomp Sdn Bhd in 1987, before making his way up to general manager in 1994 , executive director in 2001 and deputy CEO in 2014.

The company also revealed that its current chairman and co-founder Datuk Teo Chiang Quan has been redesignated to the position of non-executive director.

Teo is also the deputy chairman and substantial shareholder in property developer Paramount Corp Bhd.

All three boardroom changes in ECS ICT will be effective from Jan 1.

ECS ICT shares closed down 1 sen, or 0.83%, to RM1.19 today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM214.2 million.
