PETALING JAYA (Dec 24): A partial eclipse can be seen at most places in Malaysia on Dec 26, 2019.

According to the National Planetarium's website, the phenomenon will last about two and a half minutes and occur between 11:35am and 3pm at different locations across the country.

Certain places such as Tanjung Piai in Johor and Serian in Sarawak will be able to witness an annular eclipse.

This rare event of the moon covering the sun's centre will make the sun’s visible outer edge to form a ring of light or “annulus” around the moon.

It is not advisable to look directly at the sun even during an eclipse.

Interested parties may use binoculars equipped with mylar eclipse filter and welding glass number 14 and above.
