(May 19): The SkyPark Regional Aviation Center (RAC), a premier hangar provider in the region, is offering clients one-of-a-kind facilities and services at their premises at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Selangor.

The RAC is a comprehensive facility built on a 12ha lot, comprising five hangars and a two-storey service building.

The RAC, which started operations early last year, aims to cater to the major shortage of hangar space as well as maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) expertise in the region.

SkyPark Regional Aviation Center chief operating officer Major Kandiah Padmanathan said that the industry was very lucrative and it was rapidly growing around the region.

“Our location is good because we are located at the biggest growth area in Asia which is a few hours away from China, India, Indonesia and other countries. We are the only ones in this region that is providing this service,” he said.

Kandiah said that the state-of-the-art complex has all the facilities to cater to their high-end clients.

“What we are providing here is quality service for our clientele. Most of the private jets fly into Subang and that is why we started the RAC to cater to the VIPs,” he said.

Kandiah said the services available at the RAC are secured hangar for short or long-term lease, aircraft management, refuelling, VIP lounge, 5-star kitchen, concierge services and aircraft charter.

“One the most important service our clients need is fuel. The airport provides fuel for scheduled aircraft and if you are flying private then they will put you on the lowest priority and sometimes you have to wait for fuel for two hours.

“Even if you own a RM50 million jet, you still have to wait for fuel and this creates a situation where you are unable to capitalise on your asset.

"Some can wait, but for others, time is of the essence. Here, at RAC, we have a capacity of 100,000 litres of fuel and this eliminates the need for them to queue for fuel,” he said.

Kandiah also said the 5-star kitchen provided in-flight catering services.

“We try our best to cater to our clients' needs. If the client wants curry mee or fried fish, we will prepare it for them.

“Some of our clients just fly in to have their favourite dish from hotels or their favourite restaurants and we have a team to deliver it to them here at the RAC,” he said. – The Malaysian Insider
