SINGAPORE (Jan 20): Some S$17.2 billion in fixed asset investments (FAI) were made in Singapore last year, far exceeding the S$8 to S$10 billion that had been forecast, the republic’s Economic Development Board (EDB) revealed in a virtual year-in-review briefing on Jan 20.

Interestingly, 2020 generated the highest FI investment commitment in the decade spanning from 2011 to 2020.

Major contributions came from the electronics and chemicals sectors which raked in investments of S$6.5 million and S$4.1 million respectively.
