KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 17): Singapore Airlines Ltd's budget long-haul unit Scoot Pte Ltd is used to operate within a standardised passenger service charge (PSC) structure.

Scoot chief commercial officer Leslie Thng said this in response to reporters' question on Malaysian airports' multi-tier PSC.

“We are not able to comment on that but at Changi (Airport), we have standardised charges. Put it this way, we have been used to that structure,” Thng said.

He was speaking to reporters here today after the announcement of Scoot’s new Changi-Athens route.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd's website indicates airports in Malaysia impose PSCs at between RM9 and RM65 per passenger for domestic and international flights.

According to Malaysia Airports, passengers departing on international flights from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, besides the Penang, Langkawi and Kuching international airports, pay RM65 per person.

Passengers leaving for international destinations from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 pay RM32 each.
