Sime Darby Property Bhd has partnered Japan’s Mitsui & Co Ltd and Mitsubishi Estate Co Ltd to jointly develop and lease built-to-suit industrial facilities with a gross development value of RM530 million in Sime Darby Property’s Bandar Bukit Raja township in Klang, Selangor.

“Bandar Bukit Raja Industrial Gateway benefits from being in Selangor, the country’s most industrialised and developed state that is an economic-driven area with excellent business infrastructure and accessibility as well as an educated and highly skilled population,” Sime Darby Property acting group CEO Datuk Wan Hashimi Albakri Wan Ahmad Amin Jaffri said at the ground-breaking ceremony on Nov 13.

Global logistics service provider Leschaco (M) Sdn Bhd and leading consumer electronics chain store Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd have signed on to be the first two tenants — out of 10 — at Bandar Bukit Raja Industrial Gateway.

Both facilities will be built on a combined land area of about 10 acres with a built-up of 385,000 sq ft. Construction started this month and the facilities are slated to be fully operational by 3Q2020.

The 39-acre built-to-suit industrial facilities will feature warehouses and logistics facilities, and offer tailored features to suit the technical and operational requirements of business tenants.

MBK Real Estate Asia CEO Eiichi Tanabe said the development provides ideal warehousing solutions for its domestic and regional clients.

“Malaysia’s economy will continue to grow due to increased demand for fast-moving consumer goods and e-commerce businesses, and this growth will require businesses to consolidate and relocate their warehouses,” he added.

MBK Real Estate Asia is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsui that undertakes property development and investment activities.

The development enjoys easy connectivity to major highways such as the New Klang Valley Expressway, North-South Expressway, Shah Alam Expressway, Kemuning-Shah Alam Highway, Federal Highway and the upcoming West Coast Expressway.

Also present at the event were state investment, industry and trade and small and medium industries committee chairman Datuk Teng Chang Khim, Mitsui managing director Daiji Kojima, Leschaco (M) managing director Lothar Lauszat and Senheng Electric (KL) managing director Lim Kim Heng.
