KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 8): Sime Darby Bhd's Industrial division has inked a maintenance service agreement with Cenergi RE Sdn Bhd, a unit of Cenergi SEA Bhd which in turn is a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

In a joint statement on Monday (Nov 8), Cenergi and the conglomerate said Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd (SDISB) will provide maintenance services for Cenergi’s Caterpillar biogas gensets installed at Cenergi’s biogas power plants at various locations in Malaysia.

Cenergi is a sustainable energy solutions company specialising in reducing carbon emissions.

It is the largest grid-connected palm oil mill effluent (POME) biogas power plant developer in Malaysia.

To date, Cenergi has 10 operating biogas power plants across Malaysia and Indonesia.

Cenergi Bhd group chief executive officer Hairol Azizi Tajudin said the maintenance service agreement, effective from November 2021 until the end of 2026, is part of Cenergi’s prudent initiative to optimise maintenance costs for the growing population of Caterpillar biogas gensets within Cenergi’s biogas power plants asset portfolio.

Meanwhile, SDISB managing director CK Teoh said the Caterpillar gas gensets it offers are equipped to run on biogas fuels, producing between 70kW and 3,770kW within a single generator.

“They are designed to significantly cut fuel consumption, reduce carbon footprint and waste while maximising return on investment for our customers.

“Our strategic collaboration with Cenergi has been beneficial to both parties and we are excited to take our partnership to the next level,” he said.

At the midday break on Monday, Sime Darby had added one sen to RM2.25, valuing it at RM15.31 billion.
