KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 30): The Finance Minister has appointed Datuk Shireen Ann Zaharah Muhiudeen to be Bursa Malaysia Bhd's new non-executive chairman, effective March 1, 2019.

Shireen, who has over 30 years of experience in focused fund management of emerging Asia equity markets, will also be made Public Interest Director, Bursa said.

“Shireen is the founder of Corston-Smith Asset Management Sdn Bhd. Prior to this, she served as the Chief Executive Officer of AIG Investment Corporation (Asia) Ltd from 1992 to 2004.

"She was a member of the International Finance Corporation (IFC)’s working group for the establishment of the Philippine Stock Exchange’s Maharlika Board. She was also a member of the International Advisory Panel for Labuan International Business and Financial Center,” the statement read.

Presently Shireen also holds independent directorships at AMMB Holdings Bhd and the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA).
