(May 26): Two Umno vice-presidents had not contradicted each other over the disciplinary action to be taken against the party leader who had distributed a video of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin calling for the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) board to be sacked, said Khairy Jamaluddin today.

The Umno Youth chief said vice-presidents Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal were consistent that disciplinary action had to be taken against a deputy division chief who recorded the video.

Zahid previously said there will be no forgiveness for the Umno deputy division chief, while Shafie added that the individual did not commit a criminal offence.

"Do not say that Zahid and Shafie contradicted each other. I want to explain here that Shafie said it was not a criminal act, and Zahid said action will be taken that is not criminal.

“We will take internal action in the party," he said today after chairing an Umno Youth meeting in the capital today.

"Shafie said that it is not a crime but went against the party's secrecy codes. So their positions do not contradict."

Muhyiddin made his call for the government to sack the 1MDB board at the party’s training session in Janda Baik, Pahang.

Khairy said he agreed with Muhyiddin, but felt distributing the video shot at a closed door function was unacceptable.

This being the case, he said disciplinary action had to be taken against him. – The Malaysian Insider
