KUALA LUMPUR (March 1): Seven new clusters of Covid-19 infections were reported today, of which five are linked to workplaces, while one is community-related and another is linked to a high-risk group.

A total of 474 new cases were detected from these new clusters, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah told a virtual press conference.

Three of the five new workplace clusters are in Johor, namely Jalan Kempas Tiga in Muar (344 confirmed infections), Kampung Sungai Burung in Pontian (22) and Jalan Wawasan 12 in Batu Pahat (seven).

The remaining two workplace clusters are in Selangor, namely Desa Empat in Kuala Selangor (18 cases) and Jalan Melati in Gombak (seven).

Meanwhile, the community cluster is Bukit Marak involving the districts of Kota Bharu and Bachok in Kelantan (66 cases), while the high-risk cluster is Jalan Cempedak in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (10).

On top of these new clusters, 82 active clusters reported new confirmed cases today.

Among the clusters that have the highest number of new infections are Jalan Kempas Tiga (334 new cases), Industri Sungai Gadut (128), and Tembok Tapah (80).

To date, 1,145 clusters have been reported in the country, of which 657 have ended, including 10 today. They are the Pasir Barat, Sri Suria, Nilam Tiga, Persiaran Sabak, Tembok Kemus, Intan Delima, Pengerang Utara, Sungai Purun, Lapangan Siber, and Bedayan clusters.

There are 488 active clusters in the country currently, Dr Noor Hisham said.

Malaysia today posted 1,828 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest in 56 days, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 302,580. Five new deaths were reported, raising the country's death toll to 1,135.
