KUALA LUMPUR (May 30): Seacera Group Bhd said today it had yesterday (May 29) filed an appeal notice against High Court judge Ong Chee Kwan's decision to dismiss the company's injunction application to restrain an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to appoint new directors and remove existing ones.

In a statement to Bursa Malaysia today, tile manufacturer Seacera said Justice Ong had on Tuesday (May 28) dismissed the injunction application to restrain the EGM, which was planned to be held at 3:30pm here yesterday.

Seacera had earlier told Bursa Malaysia that the EGM notice was issued by Datuk Tan Wei Lian, Datin Sek Chian Nee, Jeannie Ooi Chin Nee, Datuk Chan Chee Hong, Low Swee Foong, Liu Zhen and Ong Eng Teik.

Today, Seacera said: "The company wishes to inform that the company had, on 29 May 2019, filed the notice of appeal against the decision of YA (Yang Arif) Tuan Ong Chee Kwan on 28 May 2019 on the company's application for injunction (restraining the proposed EGM)."

Yesterday, theedgemarkets.com, quoting Seacera's bourse filing, reported that Justice Ong had on Tuesday dismissed the company's injunction application to restrain the EGM with RM25,000 cost.

It was reported that the dismissal followed Seacera's earlier filing of an originating summons against the EGM notice issuers to declare that the EGM notice dated April 30, 2019 is null and void.

It was reported that according to Seacera's statement to Bursa on May 21, the company had also filed an application to restrain the EGM notice issuers from, among others, taking further steps in respect of the EGM notice.
