KUALA LUMPUR (March 17): Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB) has appointed Shamsul Anuar Ahamad Ibrahim, Ku Chong Hong and Noor Azri Azerai as independent directors on its board, filings with Bursa Malaysia showed.

SCIB said Noor Azri, 23, is experienced in corporate finance and investment in equity and commodity derivatives during his stint with M&A Securities Sdn Bhd and Maybank Investment Bank Bhd.

He is currently an executive director in Bintai Kinden Corp Bhd and Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Bhd (MGRC), as well as an independent non-executive director in Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd and NWP Holdings Bhd.

Ku, 33, whose background is in auditing, is also an ED at Bintai Kinden, and sits on the boards of MGRC and NWP as an independent non-executive director.

As for Shamsul Anuar, 59, he is currently serving as group corporate affairs, general manager of Permodalan ASSAR Sdn Bhd, the holding company of Amanah Saham Sarawak Bhd. He also sits on the board of Transnational Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd.

Both Ku and Shamsul Annuar have also been appointed to chair SCIB's audit and risk committees, respectively. In the latter, Shamsul Annuar is taking over the chairman's post on the resignation of Soedirman Aini.

Shamsul Anuar, together with Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir, have also been appointed as members of the audit committee, while Noor Azri and Mohd Nazri Mat were made risk committee members.

In addition, Abdul Hadi has taken over SCIB’s nomination and remuneration committee chairman post from Serba Dinamik managing director and CEO Datuk Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah. Noor Azri and Shamsul Anuar have been appointed as committee members.

SCIB closed unchanged at 23 sen, giving it a market capitalisation of RM133.87 million.
