Jo-Malone-Cologne_FD_27jan16_theedgemarketsRICH, rare and ritualistic are the three main words that describe Jo Malone London’s Cologne Intense collection. This month, the Orris and Sandalwood fragrance was added to the collection, and just as the other six Cologne Intense fragrances, it is made from precious ingredients for an unexpected scent that is intense and distinct as it is elegant.

The latest addition, which was revealed at a private preview at Le Meridian hotel last week, is surprisingly woody and floral. Inspired by the scent of the fresh blooms of irises on the Tuscan hillsides, the scent consists of a top note of violet, heart note of orris and base note of sandalwood — making it an interesting combination of floral and woody. Like all Jo Malone scents, it caters for both men and women alike.

The distinct and deep fragrances are entwined with the brand’s philosophy of fragrance combining where more than one perfume is layered over another to create a completely new scent. Depending on individual preferences, it is recommended that the Orris and Sandalwood scent be layered with Mimosa and Cardamom for a mesmerising fragrance that melts into the creamy warmth of sandalwood, or combined with Dark Amber and Ginger Lily for a floral scent that is deepened by the sensuality of amber.

The simple black apothecary bottles that store the scents in this collection are instantly recognisable from the classic packaging of the other perfumes by the brand, but retain the iconic silver cap.

The black bottle also signifies the intensity of the fragrances in this collection. The Cologne Intense collection is now available in the form of dry body oil to achieve long-lasting fragrance while conditioning the skin, as well as candles to surround your home with your favourite scent.

The new Orris and Sandalwood fragrance retails at Jo Malone stores in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Mid Valley Megamall and Starhill Gallery at RM585 (100ml).
