KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has appointed two new executive directors, Kamarudin Hashim and Chin Wei Min, with effect from April 4, 2016.

In a statement announcing the appointments, the SC said Kamarudin previously served as secretary to the Commission, and has been with the SC since 1993. His area of experience includes derivatives, bonds, fund management, Islamic capital markets and supervision.

Prior to joining the SC, he was with Bank Negara Malaysia after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Law from University of Kent, UK.

Meanwhile, the SC said Chin has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector, particularly in the innovation and digital segment.

Formerly the Asia Pacific managing director for the capital market industry at global consulting firm Accenture, Chin, in his new role, will lead the SC's newly set up innovation and digital strategy department, while overseeing the data management, strategy and risk departments.

He, a certified financial planner, holds a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering degree from University of Salford, UK.
