KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 26): Sarawak Cable Bhd (SCable) has appointed Joseph Nixon S Lourdesamy as the acting chief executive officer of the power cable and wire producer, effective immediately.

In a bourse filing on Monday (Sept 26), SCable said Joseph Nixon, 52, has more than 29 years of experience in finance, operations and management in various sectors including trading, manufacturing and construction and engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning projects.

On Sept 15, SCable announced that its executive director and group managing director Datuk Ahmad Redza Abdullah is stepping down from his positions at the end of this year, after 13 years at the company.

According to SCable, Joseph Nixon was previously the chief financial officer (CFO) and operations head of Scomi Transit Projects Sdn Bhd, a local manufacturer of monorail vehicles. Prior to this, he was the CFO of Scomi Engineering Bhd.

“He started his career in an audit firm before moving on to Ranhill Engineers and Constructors in 2005, overseeing projects’ finance teams of various local and overseas projects encompassing highways, hospital, housing and power plants. In 2008, he joined Scomi Group to oversee their projects’ finances and performance. In 2011, he was appointed as country financial controller for Scomi Brazil, based in Sao Paulo. He returned to Scomi Engineering, to the position of group financial controller in 2013 and subsequently as its CFO in 2017,” it added.

SCable shares closed down one sen or 8.7% at 10.5 sen on Monday, bringing it a market capitalisation of RM40.15 million.
