KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 18): Sapura Resources Bhd's subsidiary Sapura Technics Sdn Bhd has been granted an approved maintenance organisation (AMO) certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), which allows it to carry out aircraft maintenance activities for Malaysian operators at its hangar facilities in Senai International Airport, Johor.

The company will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for Boeing 737 series and Airbus A320 family aircraft at the new facility in Senai airport.

In a statement today, Sapura Resources said CAAM had in November last year granted Sapura Technics a provisional approval, after submission of application in March 2019. The AMO certificate was granted on Feb 5 this year.

"Sapura Technics will also be pursuing the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other regional civil aviation authority approvals," it added.

"Sapura Technics has been rigorously gearing up in the past months for capability readiness. As part of the stringent approval process, Sapura Technics had received [its] first customer's aircraft for minor checks in December last year to demonstrate [its] capability to CAAM," said Sapura Resources.

Sapura Resources also said Sapura Technics has to date recruited over 70 personnel, including Malaysians returning from overseas, and has also given employment opportunities to fresh CAAM aircraft maintenance licence holders and graduates.

Sapura Resources shares were not traded this morning. The counter last closed at 50 sen, for a market capitalisation of RM69.8 million.
