KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 29): Sapura Energy Bhd's share price fell as much as 1.5 sen or 5.26% today to a record low at 27 sen after the oil and gas support services provider's rights shares, warrants (SAPNRG-WA) and Islamic redeemable, convertible preference shares (RCPS-i) started trading on Bursa Malaysia today.

At 4:22pm, Sapura Energy shares were traded at 27 sen with some 345 million shares transacted. SAPNRG-WA rose 10.5 sen to 11 sen with about 66 million warrants traded.

Yesterday, Sapura Energy announced to Bursa Malaysia that it would list today the 9.99 billion rights shares, 998.69 million warrants and 2.4 billion RCPS-i on the bourse today.

On Aug 24, 2018, theedgemarkets.com reported that Sapura Energy had proposed the rights issue of new ordinary shares besides RCPS-i in the company to raise up to RM3.98 billion to reduce borrowings.

Sapura Energy said in a Bursa filing then, the rights issue of up to 9.99 billion new ordinary shares at 30 sen each involves 998.69 million free warrants. The exercise would be undertaken on the basis of five rights shares for every three shares held and one warrant for every 10 rights shares. The group said the rights issue of up to 2.4 billion RCPS-i at 41 sen each was on the basis of two RCPS-i for every five shares held.
