KUALA LUMPUR (June 27): Sapura Energy Bhd has bagged 10 contracts for its engineering and construction (E&C), and drilling segments worth a cumulative RM1 billion.

The new contract wins, secured across Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Australia, include Sapura Energy's first offshore wind farm contract, the group said in a statement today.

The wind farm contract was awarded to its unit Sapura Offshore Sdn Bhd by Yunneng Wind Power Co Ltd, and is for the provision of transportation and installation of substructures (foundations) for offshore wind turbines at the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan.

Meanwhile, under the drilling segment, Sapura Energy landed three contracts for various rig drilling activities from Sarawak Shell Bhd and Sabah Shell Petroleum Co Ltd, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, as well as Chevron Thailand Exploration & Production Ltd.

Under the E&C segment, the group secured four contracts. They were awarded by JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration (Malaysia) Ltd, Australia-based Cooper Energy Ltd, PTT Exploration and Production Public Co Ltd (PTTEP) and PTTEP International Ltd (PTTEPI).

Sapura Energy also secured two light well intervention contracts, one each from Woodside Burrup Pty Ltd and Woodside Energy Ltd.

In addition to all this, the group has also been selected for a frame agreement with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) for fixed offshore structure works.

Sapura Energy said its unit Sapura Fabrication Sdn Bhd secured a six-year frame agreement from Petronas for the provision of engineering, procurement and construction of fixed offshore structure works.

The agreement consists of two packages, namely for fixed offshore structures of weight exceeding 7,500 tonnes and fixed offshore structures of weight not exceeding or equal to 7,500 tonnes.

The frame agreement is applicable for projects under the Petroleum Arrangement Contractors including Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Shell Bhd/Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd, Murphy Sarawak Oil Co Ltd/Murphy Sabah Oil Co Ltd, Repsol Oil & Gas Malaysia Ltd, and ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc.
