KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 23): Ipoh-based electronics manufacturer Salutica Bhd said a number of its production workers have tested positive for Covid-19.

Salutica is best known as a vertically integrated manufacturer of wireless Bluetooth headset products for an American-Swiss peripheral device giant.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the group said it has immediately closed the affected production areas for deep cleaning and sanitisation, and the affected production workers have been quarantined.

The group did not disclose the number of workers that tested positive for Covid-19.

Salutica said disinfection exercises, the wearing of face masks and social distancing will continue to be strictly put in place, adding that employees will be allowed to work from home for two weeks as a precautionary safety measure.

"We will continue to work closely with relevant authorities and follow the standard operating procedures from the Ministry of Health and the National Security Council to ensure the safety of our employees," it said.

The ministry today announced that Malaysia's Covid-19 cases hit a new high of 1,884 in the 24 hours as of noon, with Selangor accounting for 1,203 cases.

Salutica's shares slid 2.5 sen or 5.49% to 43 sen today, valuing the group at RM166.84 million. Year-to-date, the counter has come down by 46% from 93 sen.
