KOTA KINABALU (May 11): Parti Warisan Sabah president Shafie Apdal has convinced five Barisan Nasional State Assemblymen to defect to his party and he is now at the State Palace trying to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister, FMT reported.

He is trying to replace Sabah BN chairman Musa Aman who was sworn in before the Head of State Juhar Mahiruddin last night after two STAR State assemblymen partnered with him, including STAR president Jeffrey Kitingan who was named Deputy Chief Minister.

The five BN Assemblymen who have hopped over to Warisan are Bobby Suan (Nabawan), Ewon Benedick (Kadamaian), Abidin Madingkir (Paginatan), Abdul Muis Picho (Sebatik), Hamisa Samad (Tg Batu) and Osman Jamal (Balung), FMT reported.

Shafie arrived at the Palace at about 1.15pm today accompanied by the five ex-BN Assemblymen.

Shafie had made an earlier attempt to be sworn in as the Chief Minister yesterday morning, but he was stopped from entering the palace.

At this moment, there is a large crowd outside the State Palace waiting for the latest news.
