KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional is crumbling as two component parties have pulled out.

Today, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) announced it is pulling out from the coalition. Yesterday, the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) decided to leave Sabah BN.

LDP president Teo Chee Kang, who lost his Tanjong Kapor state seat, said the decision was made following the general election in which his party lost, FMT reported.

“Admittedly, with the defeat in all the four State seats and one Parliamentary seat that we contested under Barisan National, LDP suffered a major setback.

“Taking heed of the clear message that Malaysians want a change in the regime, I discussed with the majority of my supreme council members, and the general consensus is to take a step back and pull out from BN.

“As such, I have called for an emergency supreme council meeting at the party headquarters at 8pm tonight to endorse and formalise the decision, and to determine how the party should chart our journey from here,” he said, FMT reported.
