KUALA LUMPUR (March 12): Listed rubber glove manufacturers are among the top gainers on Bursa Malaysia this morning, following the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s announcement that the Covid-19 outbreak is a pandemic.

At 9:21am, Top Glove Corp Bhd was the fourth largest gainer on the local bourse, rising by some 4.3% or 27 sen to RM6.55, valuing it at RM16.76 billion. The counter saw 2.9 million shares transacted.

Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd was the sixth top gainer on Bursa today, rising by 4.1% or 21 sen to RM5.33, giving it a market capitalisation of RM6.82 billion.

Hartalega Holdings Bhd also rose by 2.32% or 15 sen to RM6.63, valuing it at RM22.42 billion.

Both Supermax Corp Bhd and Careplus Group Bhd were on the local bourse’s list of top active stocks. In particular, Careplus was up 8.47% or 2.5 sen to 32 sen, with a trading volume of 16.54 million shares. Supermax rose by 5.2% or nine sen to RM1.82, with a trading volume of 11.95 million shares.

Bursa's Healthcare Index is the only index on the local bourse to post gains at the time of writing, rising by 1.26% or 17.01 points to 1,365 points.

The Healthcare Index includes rubber glove manufacturers as constituents.

The FBM Small Cap Index is down by 2.74% or 312.28 points to 11,074.33 points.

The WHO yesterday announced that the Covid-19 outbreak has become a pandemic, with more countries placing travel restrictions.
