KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 18): The price of RON95 and RON97 petrol will increase by 6 sen from midnight today, to RM1.98 per litre and RM2.28 per litre respectively.
The price of diesel will be increased for a third week in a row, this time by 12 sen to RM2.17 per litre for the week of Jan 19 to 25.
This is the third adjustment following the implementation of the automatic fuel pricing mechanism on Jan 5, which determines fuel prices on a weekly basis.
“The increase follows the international market prices of refined petroleum products, which had shown an upward trend from US$60 per barrel to US$63 per barrel for RON95 and US$68 per barrel to US$72 per barrel for diesel,” said the ministry of finance in a statement today.
The government had cut petrol prices by one sen per litre, but increased that of diesel by one sen for the Jan 12-18 period.
