KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 7): CIMB Group Holdings Bhd saw 56.12 million shares, representing a 0.53% stake, traded off market on Tuesday (Dec 6).

According to Bloomberg data, the shares were traded in five tranches for a total value of RM306.45 million — ranging from RM5.46 to RM5.59 per share, compared with Monday's (Dec 5) closing price of RM5.64.

Meanwhile, as of 2.59pm on Wednesday (Dec 7), CIMB's share price gained 13 sen or 2.33% to RM5.70, from Tuesday's close of RM5.57, giving the lender a market capitalisation of RM60.79 billion.

CIMB's website showed that as of Sept 30, the bank's largest shareholder was Khazanah Nasional Bhd with a 24.5% stake, followed by the Employees Provident Fund (14.3%), Permodalan Nasional Bhd (11.3%), and Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) (6.3%).

For the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2022 (3QFY2022), CIMB posted a net profit of RM1.41 billion versus a net loss of RM100.59 million a year ago, which was dragged by a RM1.2 billion goodwill impairment triggered by the prolonged impact of Covid-19 in Thailand.

The bank's net interest income after modification loss grew 9.3% to RM2.98 billion in 3QFY2022, from RM2.73 billion previously.
