KUALA LUMPUR (May 28): 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) president and group executive director Arul Kanda Kandasamy has dismissed a report in the online blog portal Sarawak Report as blatantly false and incorrect.

In a statement today, Arul Kanda said a report by Sarawak Report that “Arul Kandasamy had provided a false bank statement to Bank Negara to imply that [1MDB] had [cash in a BSI account in Singapore]” was a lie.

“I have never provided any such statement to Bank Negara. To state otherwise is blatantly false and incorrect, as are any allegations that are based on this premise,” he said.

Arul Kanda said that as stated previously, 1MDB had been extending its full cooperation to the review being conducted by the Auditor General’s office, and looks forward to appearing before the Public Accounts Committee.

“These enquiries, which are transparent and bipartisan, should answer the many questions that have been asked of the company.

“As such, we request all parties to await the outcome of these independent enquiries, and refrain from making irresponsible and unfounded allegations in the meantime,” he said.
