KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court had today deferred Repco Holdings Bhd former executive chairman Low Thiam Hock's sentencing to this Feb 29.

Sessions Court Judge Mat Ghani Abdullah fixed the date after mitigation submission by Low's defence lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.

This is the third deferment of Low's sentencing after the Sessions Court on Jan 11 this year found him guilty of market manipulation involving the acquisition of 227,000 Repco shares on Dec 3, 1997.

In 2016, the Sessions Court had initially scheduled Low's sentencing on Jan 19 before postponing the decision till today.

Today, Low, 54, better known as Repco Low, was present at court donning a blue shirt.

During the mitigation submission, defence lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah submitted ten mitigation factors that should be considered by the court.

Among others, Muhammad Shafee highlighted Low's contribution to rural development in Sabah.

Muhammad Shafee also pointed to Low's personal situation, such as his age and his status as the primary care giver in his family.
