The youth arm of the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda), or Rehda Youth, will be represented by five of its members who are new to The Edge Kuala Lumpur Rat Race this year.

The team said the concept of running in aid of charity makes for an enjoyable experience in giving back to society.

Confident that the team will do well, one member said the team’s past experience with similar runs around the hilly terrain of the area had prepared them for race day.

“We will do just the normal preparations now, and try to enjoy the fun as much as we can since this is our first time participating in the Rat Race,” said a runner on behalf of the team.

The team is looking forward to the big day, according to the runners, especially since more than 50 companies and organisations are taking part. They are keen to experience the buzz created by the vibrant diversity and the promise of a good time at Padang Merbok.

Apart from providing the next generation of developers with resources and opportunities to steer the industry to greater heights, Rehda Youth is committed to enacting social change through various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Its CSR projects are conceived around the idea of providing those who are less fortunate with a safe and nurturing environment to help themselves. Contributions go to facilities, education and homes, irrespective of race and religion.

When it comes to carrying out its CSR programmes, or good works in general, the team members said Rehda Youth takes great joy not only in putting smiles on faces of the recipients, but also in spreading happiness among the givers.

One of Rehda Youth’s past CSR initiatives was delivering modular homes in indigenous settlements, where sanitation and running water are often limited to rivers and streams.
