PETALING JAYA (Aug 13): The Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) Malaysia donated personal protective equipment (PPE) sets, N95 face masks and sanitisers to Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Aug 12. The hospital is the final recipient of Rehda’s efforts to support medical front liners from a fund that totalled RM1.25 million.

In a press statement, Rehda president Datuk Soam Heng Choon said, “REHDA Malaysia and the state branches are cognisant of the Covid-19 situation and its heavy impact on our nation, particularly our healthcare system which is in dire need of assistance.

“We see our contributions thus far as performing our civic duty as Malaysians, and we hope that the items would help in the hospital’s battle against the disease and provide optimal care to those infected.”

Kuala Lumpur Hospital deputy director (surgical) Dr Fairoz Azlim Muslim received the PPE sets, face masks and hand sanitisers from the chairman of Rehda Wilayah Persekutuan (Kuala Lumpur) Chan Kin Meng and deputy chairman Ra Adrina Muztaza.

Dr Fairoz thanked Rehda for its contribution and remarked that PPEs and N95 masks were amongst the high-volume items used daily at the hospital, where on average a front liner may need to change PPEs up to four times a day.

The statement highlighted that since July 22, Rehda Malaysia and its branches of Rehda Selangor, Rehda Wilayah Persekutuan (Kuala Lumpur) and Rehda Youth have reached out and provided supplies to several Covid-19 designated hospitals in the Klang Valley, namely Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selayang Hospital, Ampang Hospital and Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya.

Moreover, Rehda state branches throughout Peninsular Malaysia have also provided aid in the form of cash, food and essential items in their respective states.

Items donated include ventilators, Infusomats, perfusion pumps, cardiac monitors, defibrillators and nasal cannula, as well as PPE sets, N95 face masks and sanitisers.

Soam said, “Rehda reiterates its hope for all Malaysians to continue working together and lending support in whatever way they can to help those in need. We would like to thank all the front liners for their sacrifice and selfless labour, and we pray that with our collective efforts, we can end the pandemic soon.”
