KUALA LUMPUR (June 8): Ranhill Utilities Bhd has secured a contract to upgrade an industrial effluent treatment plant for MSM Sugar Refinery Sdn Bhd in Johor.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing, the group said the RM6.1 million project was awarded to its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ranhill Water Technologies Sdn Bhd (RWT).

The project, to be undertaken over the next 12 months, will contribute positively to the earnings of RWT and Ranhill for the year ending Dec 31, 2022 (FY22) and FY23, said Ranhill.

"The award of this contract, secured through competitive tender exercise by MSM, is a testament of RWT's capabilities and track records in the industrial wastewater industry.

"This contract was secured on the back of various successful completion of similar scopes such as SAMUR Effluent Treatment Plant in Sipitang, Sabah for Petronas and Effluent Treatment Plant for Hartalega glove factory in Bestari Jaya, Selangor," added the group.

Shares in Ranhill finished one sen or 2.08% lower at 47 sen on Wednesday (June 8), giving the group a market value of RM609.08 million.
