KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): Ranhill Holdings Bhd, via its wholly-owned unit Ranhill Water Services Sdn Bhd (RWS), has secured a two-year contract worth RM151.5 million for non-revenue water (NRW) reduction in Johor.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Ranhill said the project, which is expected to be completed by June 30, 2021, was a related party transaction as it was awarded by its 80%-owned subsidiary Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd (RanhillSAJ), after a competitive open tender process.

Ranhill noted that the scope of works for the project addresses a holistic NRW reduction and management.

It also said this is the fifth successive NRW project in Johor secured by RWS, through competitive open tender process since 2011.

"RWS has been undertaking NRW project in Johor successfully in a holistic manner, since its inception in 2005, and has reduced NRW in Johor from over 37% in 2005 to 22.85% as at April 30, 2019," Ranhill said.

“Apart from Johor, RWS has successfully secured NRW reduction projects through competitive open tender processes in several states, such as Melaka, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang,” it added.

Ranhill’s shares closed one sen or 0.8% at RM1.24 today, valuing the company at RM1.32 billion. Over the past 12 months, the counter grew some 131% from 54 sen.
