KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 24): Blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin claimed that Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam was the instigator of calls on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to interfere in the court cases against former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak and former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He also claimed that Lokman knows the source of the leak of an alleged draft judgement on Najib’s final appeal in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case.

Raja Petra said Lokman knows the source of the leak, who had also sent a copy of the document to the blogger.

Raja Petra also alluded that the leaked draft judgement had been widely circulated prior to being sent to him.

"There are no secrets in Malaysia," he said.

Collusion

In a clip on the Malaysia Today portal on Tuesday (Aug 23), the blogger alleged that Lokman had accused Ismail Sabri as colluding with former prime ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to jail both Najib and Zahid, who is the current Umno president.

Raja Petra said Lokman also claimed that there was a conspiracy involving Mahathir, Muhyiddin and Ismail Sabri to imprison the duo.

The blogger further said that Lokman and several other Umno bigwigs were upset at Ismail Sabri for not interfering to ensure the cases against Najib were dropped.

Secrets

Raja Petra said Lokman had alleged recently that Ismail Sabri secretly met Mahathir, Muhyiddin and also Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"It appears that Lokman has secrets on so many people.

"If Ismail Sabri had indeed interfered with the judiciary, that will come out into the open, and will be disastrous to not just the prime minister, but to Umno itself," he said.

Raja Petra added that Lokman did not understand the repercussions and backlash from demanding the premier to interfere in the judiciary.

He said if Ismail Sabri had interfered in the court cases of Najib and Zahid, and instructed the Attorney General or the Chief Justice to drop the cases against the duo, it would have resulted in the AG and CJ resigning and making it public that there was political interference.

"Mampos (sic) Ismail Sabri if that happens," the blogger said.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri had denied claims of him being pressured to interfere in Najib’s court cases.

"None…none," he said when asked about the reported news broadcast of Astro Awani on a special meeting involving the Umno divisional leaders on Monday, which failed to reach a consensus in urging the prime minister to interfere in Najib’s court cases.

The Federal Court ordered Najib to begin a 12-year prison sentence from Tuesday, after upholding a conviction on charges related to a multibillion-dollar graft scandal at state fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
