KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 20): Malaysia has cut the quarantine period for foreign travellers who have received booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine to five days.

According to new guidelines shared by the Ministry of Health that will come into effect on Jan 24, travellers who have received their Covid-19 booster shots will only need to undergo quarantine for five days.

Meanwhile, those who have completed their primary regimens of vaccination will need to quarantine for seven days, while travellers who have either not completed their courses of vaccination or are unvaccinated will have to quarantine for 10 days.

However, their release from quarantine is contingent on receiving a negative Covid-19 test result on the last day.

According to the new guidelines, children will have to quarantine for the same amount of time as their parents or guardians.

In addition, the government will also not tag those required to quarantine with pink wristbands.

Instead, they will be given a digital home surveillance order (HSO), with travellers from high-risk countries to wear digital surveillance bracelets.

Travellers who test positive for Covid-19 will be handled according to existing procedures.
