KUALA LUMPUR: Putrajaya and the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate will challenge a suit filed by a 13-year-old boy following the leaks in this year’s Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) examination papers.

Lawyer V Rajadevan, who is appearing for Ananda Krishnan Menon, said the High Court had given until Jan 6 for the defendants to file their defence and other interlocutory applications.

“A contest is imminent since the Federal Counsel who represented the defendants informed the High Court deputy registrar that they will file a defence,” he said.

The first case management was held yesterday before deputy registrar Pavani Kasi. Federal Counsel Zureen Elina appeard for the defendants.

Rajadevan said the next case management would be held on Jan 16. The lawyer said it is unclear at this stage whether the defendants would also make an application to strike out the suit on the grounds that it is frivolous, vexatious and an abuse of the court process.

Ananda, who has a learning disability, said in his suit that he had suffered from emotional and mental stress as a result of the examination fiasco. — The Malaysian Insider
