PUTRAJAYA (April 20): The government has decided to place the Pusat Bandar Utara and the Selayang Wholesale Market area in Kuala Lumpur under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) effective today until May 3.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Saabri Yaakob said the decision to impose the sixth EMCO was made on the advice of the Ministry of Health involving six parcels that had been identified as follows:

  • Parcel A: Jalan 6/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara, Kuala Lumpur
  • Parcel B: Jalan 6/3A dan 9/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara, Kuala Lumpur
  • Parcel C: Jalan 2/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara, Kuala Lumpur
  • Parcel D: Jalan 2/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara, Kuala Lumpur
  • Parcel E1: Taman Sri Murni Fasa 2, Jalan 1/2D, Kuala Lumpur
  • Parcel E2: Taman Sri Murni Fasa 1, Jalan 1/2D, Kuala Lumpur
  • Parcel E3: Taman Sri Murni Fasa 3, Jalan 1/2B, Kuala Lumpur
  • Parcel F: Taman Batu View and Taman Batu Hampar, Kuala Lumpur

The Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market, more commonly known as the Selayang Wholesale Market, is not subject to the EMCO, only the surrounding areas.

Ismail Sabri said the 6th MCO was implemented to curb COVID-19 infection and this would enable detection activities to be carried out during this period.

“All residents are requested to stay calm and fully co-operate with the personnel of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and to comply with all the directives of the authorities.

"Residents who need assistance or have any question can contact the DBKL MCO Operations Room at 03-4026 7222 or the Sentul IPD Control Centre at 03-4048 2212," he told a press conference after chairing a meeting of the Special Ministerial Committee on the MCO, here, today.

Ismail Sabri said the Selayang Wholesale Market operations would be operating as usual as the EMCO only applies to its neighbouring residential areas comprising mostly ethnic Rohingya.

As a background, following the statistics, there are 28 positive COVID-19 reported in the Pusat Bandar Utara and Selayang Wholesale Market areas, to date.

Prior to this, EMCO was implemented in five areas as of April 28 involving:

  • Kampung Dato Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato Ibrahim Majid, Simpang Renggam, Johor
  • Kampung Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat, Selangor
  • Menara City One, Kuala Lumpur.
  • Bangunan Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion, Kuala Lumpur
  • Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding encompassing Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Melaka and Jalan Ampang.
