KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 14): The public inspection for the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) between Johor Baru and Singapore will begin tomorrow until April 15.

In a statement today, Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said however, the public inspection will now be implemented virtually in view of the Movement Control Order (MCO) that came into effect yesterday in several states including Johor and federal territories like Kuala Lumpur.

The three-month public inspection is a requirement under Section 84 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010. During the exercise, information about the RTS Link project such as the alignment plan and profile, station site context plan, rolling stock and details on land, which may have to be acquired for the project, will be made available to the public for viewing.

All documents and materials for the public inspection can be found on the company’s website at www.mymrt.com.my.

During this period, the public can also provide feedback or lodge objections based on the information that is made available by using the online public objection form, which is available on MRT Corp's website. All feedback and objections will be forwarded to Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD).

MRT Corp had earlier intended to open two physical public inspection locations: one at the APAD headquarters here and the other in KOMTAR JBCC in Johor Baru.

"Although these locations cannot be opened for now, MRT Corp will open these locations to the public once the MCO is lifted. MRT Corp will make an announcement when the locations can be reopened," it said.

The RTS Link is a railway shuttle link between Johor Baru and Woodlands, Singapore. The link will be 4km long, of which 2.7km will be in Malaysia and the remaining 1.3km in Singapore.

The link will have two stations: one in Bukit Chagar, Johor Baru and the other in Woodlands North, Singapore. When completed, the link will provide a convenient and efficient international border crossing between Malaysia and Singapore.

Malaysia Rapid Transit System Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MRT Corp, has been appointed as the Malaysian civil infrastructure company for the project. The civil infrastructure works of the line are expected to be completed by 2024 and the train services are expected to commence by the end of 2026.
