KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 1): Sapura Energy Bhd has appointed Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah as its new non-independent director effective today.

He is the current group chief executive officer (CEO) of Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas).

Prior to joining Prolintas, he was the CEO of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd since Jan 1, 2012 after assuming the position of chief operating officer on Oct 15, 2011.

According to a filing with Bursa Malaysia, he started his career in 1991 with Coopers & Lybrand before joining Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan (PLUS) Bhd a year later.

He was involved in the pre- and post-construction of the development of the North-South Expressways privatisation project when he was working with PLUS from 1992 to 1999.

"In 1999, he joined the Presidents Office of the Renong Group (Property Division), overseeing the overall financial and operational performance of property companies within the group. In 2001, he joined Big Tree Outdoor Sdn Bhd, Malaysia's leading outdoor advertising company as general manager, and became the CEO in 2009," said Sapura Energy.

"He also attended the Asean Senior Management Development Program by Harvard Business School Alumni Club Malaysia (HBSACM) in 2009," it added.

At the midday break today, Sapura Energy shares fell 1.79% or 0.5 sen to 27.5 sen for a market capitalisation of RM4.39 billion.
