(April 10): The police today said it has no intentions of hindering people's rights to voice out their thoughts at a gathering, but rally organisers should adhere to rules on public order, reported Bernama.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar was quoted as saying that to initiate a gathering, the organiser must abide with the requirements stipulated under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

"This is what I expect... the organiser should apply for an appropriate place so that the police can ensure the safety of participants at the gathering.

"As a reminder, they should be careful when voicing out their rights... do not go overboard."
