KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 23): The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have mounted roadblocks at strategic locations nationwide since Tuesday (Nov 22) to ensure public safety and order. They will be in place until further notice.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the implementation of roadblocks is part of PDRM's efforts to prevent crime through increasing the level of omnipresence (presence of police personnel), with this carried out on a 24-hour basis.
"For the comfort of road users and the smoothness of traffic, there will be no obstacles during peak hours and during the day.
"The public are asked to cooperate in complying with the instructions given when passing through roadblocks, especially outside peak hours," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Acryl Sani added that the people do not have to worry about carrying out daily activities, and PDRM would ensure that the level of security is under control.
