(Sept 9): Police today dismissed rumours that the body of missing deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais, who has gone missing since Friday, was found in Klang.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said that up till 12.20pm today, there is no confirmation to the rumour which has gone viral on social media since early this morning.

"I have checked with the Klang Utara and Klang Selatan police stations, there is nothing ... I'm convinced that the rumour is not true," he told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters in Shah Alam this afternoon.

Morais, who was attached with the Attorney-General's Chambers, was reported missing on Friday after he left his Menara Duta residence for work.

He was driving a government-issued vehicle, a grey Proton Perdana bearing a registration WA6264Q.

A call made by his friend at 10.30am went unanswered. An attempt to make a call to Morais’s handphone a few hours later also turned futile.

The friend then called his office and was informed by Kevin’s secretary that he did not turn up for work that day. His family lodged a missing persons report at the Jinjang police station on Saturday.

It is understood that Morais, who was seconded to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, was transferred to the AGC about two to three months ago.

It was reported that police found a burnt car, believed to be either a Perdana or a Honda Accord, in Hutan Melintang, Perak on Saturday but have yet to ascertain the owner of the vehicle. – The Malaysian Insider
